Well, that was a stroke of luck - after reading on Elizabeth's blog about her new ruler with paper piercing holes in, I'd bought one (as much for the metal edge just in CASE I ever pluck up the courage to use a craft knife here). And then, up popped this week's Less is More challenge of 'paper piercing':
I used:
- DL white card stock
- a snippet of lavender card stock, pierced round the edge
- a snippet of white card, embossed using the 'Plants' folder by Quickutz - if you press your nose against the screen the embossing might show up, the light here is dreadful for taking photos at the moment
- some self-adhesive flowers and butterflies. They're epoxy or something similar and look very realistic IRL - no idea where I bought them, and there's no make on the packet
- sentiment from a clear set by Hero Arts called 'Messages' (original huh?) - stamped using Brilliance 'Pearlescent Purple'
I'm skipping WOYWW this week - have other fish to fry today :(

Very nice Miss. Like the lilac card stock. Um you do know its not Friday don't you? Hugs Mrs a.
ReplyDeleteA really pretty card. I will have another look tomorrow on the big screen to see the embossing and paper piercing. The Kindle screen is a little small at this time of night. xx Maggie (no number yet)
ReplyDeleteI haddock sole, but it cod in my striper. I'm such a bass. Am I bad or what? You just toss me a line and I take the bait.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you won't be WOYWWing tomorrow (Tuesday night here), Di, but you sure WOWed me with your beautiful pierced card!!
Hello Di,
ReplyDeleteLovely card! Oh, and I'd love to stop by for fish and chips......

Kay

A nice piece of Cod for me please and you know I will drop by whether you are frying fish or exposing yourself to the crafty world :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the card Di.

Really pretty card Di
ReplyDeleteYes thanks Di - I am feeling better today. Your card is perfect - you are a clever thing. Hope all goes well with the fish frying! x Jo
ReplyDeleteOh, watch that hot oil whilst frying your Sprats honey :)
ReplyDeleteStunning card today, LOVE everything about it especially those flutterbies!
Another crafter that doesn't like craft knives, the thought of slipping with it sends me into panic mode.
Have a good day, take care xxx
What is paper piecing?? Sounds painful :) your card is very very pretty though, it reminds me that Spring is just round the corner!
ReplyDeleteHave fun fish frying!
Felicitations, LLJ 39 xx
No WOYWW??!! That fish you're frying must be a whopper!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours in the card - so relaxing and pretty.
Be warned about craft knives... and never NEVER decide to use a retractable DIY blade instead. The DIY blades are so much sharper, and if you're really really silly, you'll press down hard when you cut your project, and slice your cutting mat in half. At least, I suppose that's what would happen. Oh, okay... so I did that yesterday!
Happy mid-week, and have a wonderful WOYWW, even if you're not showing your workspace this week :)
Sheleen.

Hello Di, how timely was finding that ruler!!! Lovely card too - I like the pastel shades ... they are just the colours I look for in flowers to plant in my garden :)
ReplyDeleteThe ribbon storage was developed after months of deliberation - and the frustration of endless rummaging through drawers and boxes for just the right trim. Those three binders are going to make life a whole lot easier and they will look so smart and tidy on the shelf too.
Having studied your method of cataloguing your stamps, I'm stealing it for myself. I've dusted off an old index box - mine is red - and I'm now eagerly awaiting delivery of a postcard album - could be the first of many - plastic inserts, and index cards. I could be MIA for some time as I'm determined to get the job done :)
Hope the fish are frying nicely. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

I love the shape and design of this card! When it comes to paper piecing, a template is a must! I've done some wonky piercing freehand that proves that point!
ReplyDeleteOhhh...love those little stitching holes...great idea to build that into the ruler.
