- 4" x 6" white card blank
- snippets of SU's 'Real Red' card stock for the backing and also to back the image
- a snippet of white card stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and the Penny Black 'Monkey in our Tree' stamp - which always makes me smile. Coloured using Pro markers
- die cut the image using a die from the Spellbinders Nestabilities set called 'Wonky Rectangles' and then hand cut the red backing layer by drawing round the same die and hand cutting it for a narrower border than using the next die up in size
- the patterned backing paper is a snippet from LOTV's 'Classic Christmas' paper pad
- the sentiment was stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and a stamp from the Personal Impressions 'Many Greetings' set then punched out using the SU 'Word Wo indow' punch and layered onto a SU 'Modern Label' - punched from a snippet of SU's 'Real Red'
- final touch, Inklylicious 'Fluffy Puffy Stuff' on the monkey's hat/pompom and tickles of clear Wink of Stella on top of that and also on the baubles
Once again, the jury is out over the 'Fluffy Puffy Stuff'. This is the third brand of heat activated stuff I've tried and to be honest none of them really float my boat. Mind you, one of the previous brands went light brown (like a meringue) on a previous card - at least this one stays white :)
These are today's prizes:
As usual, just add a comment underneath this post if you'd like to be in the draw for today's prize - or even for just part of the prize goodies (the stamp or the set of dies) same as I used, just say so in your comment. I can split them if you wish although it's one whole prize if that's what you'd like.
At the end of all of the celebrations I'll do a massive draw session using Mr Linky - which is on the main snippets post HERE - so you do have to have entered at least one snippets make to be in with a chance :) Maximum of three entries please.
Just one more prize to play for now - that will be on here tomorrow. It's not mahooosive, but I think it's very elegant :)
I've been thinking that return to the 'normal' one prize per week will seem a bit tame after the past couple of weeks - but needs must. I do know this, the Playground is such fun, I'm sure you will still play along. I do see how you visit one another and it gives me the 'warm fuzzies' to know that, somehow, we have such a happy little band :)
Mind you, I did notice that the Nativity Play went off like a damp squib - or was I too spaced out on meds at the time? Maybe we can fix up an Easter Egg hunt next - I bagsie wear the big floppy ears and whiskers, if Parsnip will show me where he hid them last time I dressed him up in them :)
Hope you have a lovely New Year's Eve, whatever your plans may be. Ours will be quiet and that's just how we like it!
Di

What a cute image! I will only say yes to the dies this time - thanks
ReplyDeleteLove your cute card, Di! I can't wait to see the final prize (as if we've not had enough!) So exciting! I will just say yes to the Spellbinders dies this time. Thank you so much! ^_^
ReplyDeleteOh, that festive monkey is so much fun and I say yes please to today's prize! The wonky rectangle frame is perfect with this silly image!! I haven't ever tried any of that fluffy puffy stuff, but it sounds like something that would make my life less than happy..so I'll just let you continue trying them out and reporting back. You and Parsnip are much braver than I!
ReplyDeleteQuiet here, too--which is fine with me! Hope you're feeling better soon. Super cute card! Please leave me out of the drawing. Don't worry--we'll certainly be playing in 2016!

ReplyDeleteAnother yes please from me!And although we're all so enthusiastic about the prizes, I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say we'd still play along every week, or as often as we can, even if there were no prizes at all! I was away and missed the nativity play, or lack of it.
ReplyDeleteJane
PB has done it again with this cheeky monkey - it is another yes please from me this time as well. I do look forward to your challenge each week because it encourages me to use up some of my very many snippets in imaginative ways - keeps the old brain ticking over!! Happy New Year to all in the playground.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card Di and you have used those snippets so well. Yes please to the dies only today...you are so generous. As you say this is such a fun, kind crafting place to be, you have made me so welcome this year and I look forward to sharing our creativity in 2016. Cheers and hugs xx

Wot fun, I like all the elements of your card. I love coming to the playground for bags of inspiration and to have a few people who really care say 'yes good, I like how you've done that'. (They do their best at home but it's not the same). The prizes are a bonus but I'd play anyway. Having said that yes please to the dies! Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year everyone.
What a cutie stamp and such a gorgeous die so a yes please to them both and the bunny of yours looks adorable . Wish you a fabulous 2016 Di
ReplyDeleteCheers
Dr Sonia
Happy new year to you Di and Parsnip and to all the Playground playmates.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, that really is a fun monkey but I will say no thanks to this prize. I tried that Marvy snow marker pen and ended up chucking it in the bin after the upteenth disaster. Now I stick to adding Stickles for a bit of added oomph xx
A cute stamp and lovely paper too. Please don't include me in the draw for this prize.

I hope you are on the mend and feeling much better. I'm sending you lots of love and hugs and hope you and the Mr. enjoy your quiet evening and have a wonderful new year. Love the monkey card and tell Parsnip to have a great holiday too.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely New Years evening.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun card.
Ii would like to be in the drawing for the die only.
Quiet one here, gone past going out and celebrating till early hours, I'd be ok but Chris can't hack it anymore!
ReplyDeleteLovely card and a great image, fabulous colouring.
No idea myself what happened to the Nativity Play, not even told when we were holding it, sat here for days in my Angel costume, so I'd be ready, Milkman thought I had lost it and the looks I got walking round Sainsbury's
you wouldn't believe but I didn't like to take it off incase there was a sudden call.
On a serious note I am so glad that there were no bombings over Christmas just keeping my fingers crossed that tonight will pass peacefully.
Happy New Year to you, Len and Parsnip.

He is a cutie! Lovely job coloring...so sweet. Have a Happy New Year Di!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute Christmas card!
ReplyDeleteI always assumed that it was me that had issues with that blooming white fluffy stuff. I have to admit I loathe the stuff because it was a real issue trying to get it out of the tube in the first place and that was when my hands were good, unlike now. When it ends up brown that's because you've, um, burnt it lol! So speaks the voice of experience been there and done that a lot and often. I found heating it from underneath and taking your time meant that it would puff and not burn so much. I've actually had better luck this year because I made my own, lol. I've experimented with it and have found that you can mix talc and glitter with white acrylic paint and you have your snow. I actually found it better to use gesso because it's thicker and doesn't need so much powder. My first batch dried a little too much so I added Glossy Accents to it, I've found out I can use white PVA too, cheap stuff well! I was able to apply it with a tiny spatula and add white EP or UTEE. I left it to dry naturally then heated it the next day and I got a gorgeous textured snow. I need to experiment more however I do recommend non scented talc and cheap as possible cos the scented can be overpowering. Just entered my final card, think you'll love the colours I used. Happy New Year Di and Mr Len xx
Such a cute and fun card! I love it! I especially love that wonky shape die - I've seen this around and wondered about what it was called! Really crossing my fingers for this one... I'm definitely a YES! So many wonderful prizes - I am super excited about winning! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of fluffy either but love wonky, so yes please and looking forward to Easter eeek xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun card with that mischievous monkey!!! I have an aversion to the creatures, however, so please, please, please only put my name in for the dies! I love the unusual wonky shape of this set.

ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely card Di and the monkey looks so cute sitting on the SB Wonky Rectangle and I love the green tartan paper in the background too. Please may I be in the draw for just the dies. Wishing you a very happy and creative new year and I will certainly continue to visit the playground as often as I can this coming year. x
ReplyDeleteGreat card Miss. That monkey reminds me of someone......Bet you know who!!
ReplyDeleteIf my number comes up I would love the dies.
Hugs
xx
Wonderful card today. Love that cute little monkey. I also really like that backing paper you have used.
ReplyDeleteIf I am the lucky gal I would like to have both the stamp and the die-cuts, thanks :)
Hugs,
Eemeli
I'm with you on the Fluffy Puffy White Stuff... the one I used looked "okay" until you added the heat that was supposed to make it look "good" - at which point it looked like burnt meringue, quite disgusting and of course it was the last step of the process so all the painstaking colouring that had taken place prior was wasted!, well not quite, I painted over it with white paint and added glitter but it still looked pretty ordinary. Yes please for the Wonky Rectangles only thanks, Donna xx
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I've never had any luck with the fluffy puffy stuff either...I swapped to using white Flowersoft whenever I want that kind of look...at least I can't burn that!
ReplyDeleteYes please for this adorable prize!
Helen x
Heee cute monkey, yes please to be in your draw if I'm not too late!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the fluffy puffy stuff, mine always looked burnt cream when I tried it so it ended up in the bin!
