Butterfly challenge - spots and stripes

The latest challenge over at Mrs's A's butterfly house is to use spots and stripes. I went for fairly quick and easy, whilst trying not to melt in the heat:
 I used:

- 5" x 7" white card blank

- SU 'Certainly Celery' card stock for the backing

- SU pink and green Subtles designer papers, bought ages ago. The pink is probably 'Pink Pirouette' and the green is certainly 'Certainly Celery' :)

- topped the plain green card stock with a rectangle of pink, striped side facing up and then cut a smaller panel to use with the stripes facing down

- backed the edges of the panel with lacy strips, die cut using MFT Die-namics 'Faux Crochet Border' and a snippet of 'Certainly Celery'

- the butterflies were cut using SU's 'Beautiful Wings' Embosslits and spotty SU green card stock

- 'Happy Birthday' was die cut using a snippet of 'Certainly Celery' and the Britannia Dies 'Happy Birthday' word set

- last touches - white pearls down the bodies of the butterflies and one as a dot above the letter 'i'

Why don't you join in Mrs A's challenge if you don't already? There are prizes to be won but, most of all, the girls who play are such a lovely bunch - needless to say quite a few are also Snippets Playground playmates!

  6. Lovely card Di, you've combined the spots and stripes beautifully. It's oh so hot up here too. I hear that a lot of the competitors arriving for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are stunned - they'd been told that Scotland was a cold place to visit - quel surprise, summer comes to us every few years too :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx

PS: The downside of all this weather - I'm covered in bug bites!

U see have cards "must do" so "want to do" - it just has to wait.
Worked out today... I am always wanting to work on next card... rather than one I am on. Seems like a personality querk to me!! :)

  13. Hello Di,

Thank you so much for your words of sympathy. As you well pointed it out, it fades after a while but you never forget. My brother was drown when he was 12 and it has faded but every single day I think of him just a brief moment but he's there. Thank you so much for your friendly support.
Now that I am here at your blog I joined in with you, like your cards.
Lots of love from Veerle x

  18. Aren't you the clever little miss. I love it....Your card is a beauty as always. I hope to get something together for Mrs. A's challenge. Been having lots of computer issues, well not me, but my on-line banking has been being very naughty and taking too much time to fix. Hopefully tomorrow will be a day to play.
